Bluedrop Helps Improve Cancer Care in Ontario

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Bluedrop is proud to announce that Cancer Care Ontario has selected Bluedrop Performance Learning following a national competition to develop its Web-based training course for clinicians using Cancer Care Ontario’s Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) System.

Currently, over 50% of all chemotherapy orders in Ontario (600,000) are being placed electronically by 500 physicians into Ontario’s computerized physician order entry system, which improves patient safety, communication among healthcare provides and helps to track cancer drug use system-wide. “The system was designed with the needs of oncologists and their patients in mind. It incorporates CCO’s clinical practice guidelines to ensure that patients received safe and effective chemotherapy,” says Sarah Kramer, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Cancer Care Ontario. “We are happy to be working with Bluedrop Performance Learning to provide clinicians across Ontario with effective on-line training to help them use the system to its full capacity.”

For nearly 15 years, Bluedrop has been providing learning and technical solutions to its international client base. Over this time, Bluedrop has developed a successful track record in providing technical training to the healthcare industry. “We are very proud of our healthcare credentials. Our expert teams really understand the special training needs, attitudes, preferences and limitations of content for Physicians, Nurses and Pharmacists,” says Emad Rizkalla, President, Bluedrop Performance Learning. “We will use our experience in this sector to ensure full adoption and optimal retention of the CPOE system training. We fully understand the importance of this project and looks forward to working with Cancer Care Ontario to extend the reach of this Web-based training tool.”
