Bluedrop Performance Learning; Still “Gets IT” After All These Years
Monday, August 13th, 2007
After 15 years, Bluedrop Performance Learning (formerly ZeddComm) was named by Progress Magazine as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Atlantic Canada.
“This award means so much because the scoring is primarily based on how employees anonymously responded to a survey of 65 questions,” Bluedrop CEO Emad Rizkalla stated. “There is no better way to celebrate 15 years in business than to receive this recognition from our employees.”
Bluedrop is a true Canadian success story. Starting life in the dining room of a house in 1992, it quickly focused on IT Consulting and Services. In the mid 1990’s, Bluedrop recognized the potential of computer-based learning and was mobilized to provide this service to the international marketplace. Its strategy? One that has proven to be effective since the company’s inception – aggressively seek industry leaders and do what it takes to make them a client. And it has worked well. Bluedrop counts companies such as Microsoft, Exxon-Mobil, Prentice Hall, McGraw-Hill, Wyeth, Cisco, Dell, Sony and Pfizer among its clients.
Commenting on highlights over the past 15 years, Emad Rizkalla notes, “We’ve really achieved a lot in a very action-packed period of time. From getting an early contract with Johns Hopkins Hospital, to putting Newfoundland’s first object in space on NASA’s Space Shuttle Discovery, to being awarded the largest pure e-learning contract in Canadian Federal government history, it has truly been eventful. And with all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
In this time Bluedrop has received extensive recognition and numerous accolades at the local, national and international level. This recognition has included coverage in Time Magazine, The National Post, BBC Radio, CBC News “The National” and the Globe and Mail. As Rizkalla states, “we have been extremely fortunate to receive such positive recognition. In particular, receiving the Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Award in 2005 has done great things for our organization. This recognition demonstrated something that we have known for a while – that the solutions we offer our clients continue to be the best in the world.
With healthy profits posted in recent years and steady growth projected for the next three years, Bluedrop is well poised for the future. In the fall of 2007 Bluedrop will be moving into its new state-of-the-art headquarters and multimedia Center of Excellence in downtown St. John’s. This move comes along with Bluedrop’s recent office expansion in Halifax, Fredericton and Toronto.
